Driving on the right side
In Norway we drive on the right side of the road.

In Norway, it is mandatory to have lights on all day.
Never stop on the road
Never stop on the road unless it is an emergency. Find a parking space if you are going to stop to take pictures.
Pedestrians along the road
In Norway, pedestrians walk on the left side of the road. If it is dark and/or visibility is poor, we always recommend wearing a reflective vest.
Arctic driving precautions
Please read this before you hit the road.
- Remember to scrape the windows completely free of snow/ice before you start driving. Use the snow brush/scraper you find inside the car. Only scrape the windows and head lights (if necessary), do not scrape the bodywork as this will cause scratches and additional costs for repairs.
- Always adapt your speed to the driving conditions.
- Braking takes (a lot) longer on icy and slippery roads.
- Keep a good distance to the car in front.
- Do not overtake in poor driving conditions.
- Never stop in the middle of the road to take pictures.
- Don't rely on map applications, you may get lost or stuck in deep snow.
- Follow Norwegian rules and familiarize yourself with signs, laws and regulations.
- Always wear a reflective vest if you have to go outside the car.

Danger signs

Meeting traffic
Dangerous intersection with the obligation to yield to traffic coming from the right.
Roundabout with an obligation to give way to the left.
Speed bump ahead.
Warning of the risk of slippery road surfaces due to special conditions.
Steep hill
Warning that animals often travel across or along the road.
Yield and right-of-way signs
The sign indicates that drivers must give way to traffic in both directions on intersecting roads.
Right of way - The sign indicates that drivers coming from a side road or intersecting road are required to give way. The sign is valid until it is repealed by the same sign with a black line across it.
Prohibitory sign
No entry - The sign indicates that driving past the sign is prohibited.
Overtaking prohibition - The prohibition applies to overtaking motor vehicles that have more than two wheels. The prohibition does not apply to overtaking which, according to traffic regulations, can legally take place on the right.
Stopping prohibited - The sign indicates a prohibition against stopping vehicles on the side of the road where the sign is placed.
Other signs
One-way traffic -The sign indicates that driving is only permitted in the direction of the arrow until the first intersection.
Wrong driving direction, stop and turn immediately.

Stopp aldri på veien med mindre det er en nødsituasjon. Finn en parkeringsplass hvis du skal stoppe for å ta bilder.
Fotgjengere langs veien
I Norge går fotgjengere på venstre side av veien. Hvis det er mørkt og/eller dårlig sikt anbefaler vi alltid å bruke refleksvest.
Forhåndsregler for vinterkjøring
Vennligst les dette før du kjører avgårde.
- Husk å skrape rutene helt fri for snø/is før du begynner å kjøre. Bruk snøbørsten/skrapen du finner inne i bilen. Skrap kun vinduene og frontlysene (hvis nødvendig), ikke skrap karosseriet da dette vil gi riper og ekstra kostnader for reparasjoner.
- Stopp aldri midt på veien for å ta bilder.
- Tilpass alltid hastigheten til kjøreforholdene.
- Bremsing tar (mye) lengre tid på isete og glatte veier.
- Hold god avstand til bilen foran.
- Ikke ta forbikjøringer under dårlige kjøreforhold.
- Ikke stol på kartapplikasjoner, du kan kjøre deg vill eller kjøre deg fast i dyp snø.
- Følg norske regler og gjør deg kjent med skilt, lover og regler.
- Bruk alltid refleksvest hvis du må gå utenfor bilen.
